This course is suitable for people aged 16+ who care for children in any professional setting (e.g. nannies, child-minders, nursery workers and au pairs), and is specifically aimed at newly qualified level two or three years childcare staff.

The emergency paediatric first aid course has been designed to meet the first aid training needs of newly qualified level two or three early years childcare staff. It is recommended for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and meets Childcare Registration requirements.

If you don't need first aid training for work reasons but would like to learn first aid for babies and children, our popular first aid for baby and child course is perfect for new and expectant parents, grandparents and carers.

This course covers how to help a baby or child who:

  • is unresponsive and breathing
  • is unresponsive and not breathing, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • is choking
  • is bleeding
  • is suffering from shock
  • is burnt or scald
  • is having a seizure.

The course also includes details on accident reporting and administering medication for those working in a childcare setting.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive an emergency paediatric first aid certificate which is valid for three years by the British Red Cross.

The emergency paediatric first aid course is designed to meet the fire aid training needs of newly qualified level two or three early years child carers.

Although this one-day course is suitable for anyone who cares for babies and/or children in a professional setting, it's specifically aimed at new nursery and pre-school staff.
