What is a First Aid for Sports course?
The First Aid for Sports course is suitable for people who are involved in sporting activities and may need to give basic first aid.
However, this course does not qualify the learner to act as a first aider for the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
The course content on day 1 includes:
- Welcome and introduction
- Unresponsive and breathing child and adult
- Special consideration for a suspected spinal injury.
- Unresponsive and not breathing child and adult
- Monitoring a casualty
- Choking child and adult
- Shock and internal bleeding
- Hygiene techniques
- Bleeding and wounds
- Small wounds and bruises, small blisters and splinters, nosebleed, eye injuries, bleeding heavily (limb bandage), amputation, crush injuries.
- Burns
- Bone, muscle and joint injuries
- Broken bones, dislocations, strains and sprains, spinal injury.
- Seizures
- Cramp and Achilles tendon injury
- Accident record
- RIDDOR
