First aid annual skills update

Who is it for?

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recommends that first aiders have annual refresher training to maintain their skills and keep up to date with any changes which may happen between completing a first aid at work course and requalifying three years later.

This course is suitable for people aged 16+ who wish to refresh their first aid at work skills through practical training in a supervised environment. It is also available by online learning.

Course content includes:

The course recaps how to help someone who is:

  • unresponsive and breathing
  • unresponsive and not breathing (including how to use an automated external defibrillator/AED)
  • choking
  • bleeding
  • in shock
  • burned
  • having a seizure.

Qualification

This course is not certified. It is designed to keep your existing first aid at work or emergency first aid at work skills and confidence refreshed.

Pre-requisites

Learners must have a valid first aid at work or emergency first aid at work certificate to take this course.

Our courses offer a practical, hands-on approach that delivers the skills and confidence to use first aid skills in a real life situation. Learners must be physically able to carry out the practical elements of the course.
